look, it's me in naples

naples is a city at the edge of a great body of water. naturally, i like being there.
i need to process the five rolls of film that i took with me asap.

the group went to pompeii and explored the ruins. it seemed a city on the verge of a renaissance in art and architecture. it would have been a magnificent place to live if it hadn't gotten wiped out in 79 ad. cameron and i found a quiet spot in the middle of the ruins, a place where someone might have slept almost two thousand years ago, and drew, wrote, and took photos. i found a snail shell :)

afterwards, we took a train to sorento, which is only just out of reach of description.

where the sea meets land, there are fifty foot cliffs, and where the city intercedes, there are buildings carved from the vertical rocks. we faced west and saw a sorbet sunset.

in naples, we saw louise borgeois, who was born in 1911 and is still creating art to this day. she was showing at the museo di capodimonte, with her work set amongst many classical style paintings. if every artist's work is based on the layers of what has already been created, this was a good example. three words: giant metal spiders.

our final project is to create anything at all...
