Who these days gets to say they spend their free time creating planets for their final project? This is a stereographic projection of a 360x180 degree panorama consisting of about fifty pictures.
I first ran across this quirky style of panoramic photography on flickr, and I've been working hard to reproduce the same effect for a few weeks now. Hugin is an amazing tool for stitching together photos as well as the Photoshop plugin, Flexify.
I've got a long way to go before I get these looking really nice; it's a good thing they're so much fun to make.
